Vikarabad district is a district in the Indian state of Telangana. Vikarabad is the headquarters of the district.[2] [3] .The district shares boundaries with Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, and Ranga Reddy districts and the state boundary of Karnataka.
The district is spread over an area of 3386km2. This district is bounded by Sangareddy district in the north, Ranga Reddy district in the east, Mahbubnagar district in the south and Karnataka in the west.
Census of India, the district has a population of 927,140. Vikarabad had a sex ratio of 1001 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 57.91%. 114901 (12.39%) were under 6 years of age. 124,969 (13.48%) lived in urban areas. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes made up 179,730 (19.39%) and 94,623 (10.21%) of the population respectively.
At the time of the 2011 census, 75.23% of the population spoke Telugu, 12.90% Urdu and 9.97% Lambadi as their first language.[4]
The district will have two revenue divisions of Tandur and Vikarabad. It is sub-divided into 20 mandals. Narayana Reddy Garu I.A.S. is the present collector of the district.
