Sulfoacetaldehyde reductase (ISFD) is an enzyme with systematic name isethionate:NADP⁺ oxidoreductase.^[1] This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction

isethionate + NADP⁺

2-sulfoacetaldehyde + NADPH + H⁺

This enzyme catalyses the reaction in the reverse direction.
