Ostectomy Explained

An ostectomy is a procedure involving the removal of bone.

Examples include:

• femoral head ostectomy
• Rib removal

In dentistry, ostectomy refers specifically to the removal of bone surrounding a tooth in an attempt to eliminate an adjacent periodontal pocket.^[1]
