Nitrate reductase (cytochrome) (respiratory nitrate reductase, benzyl viologen-nitrate reductase) is an enzyme with systematic name ferrocytochrome:nitrate oxidoreductase.[1] This enzyme catalises the following chemical reaction

2 ferrocytochrome + 2 H+ + nitrate
