Jabłonkowanie (pronounced as /pl/) or siakanie (pronounced as /pl/) is a regional phonological feature of the Polish language. It consists of the merger of the series of retroflex sibilants pronounced as //ʂ/, /t͡ʂ/, /ʐ/, /d͡ʐ// and palatal sibilants pronounced as //ɕ/, /t͡ɕ/, /ʑ/, /d͡ʑ// into a phonetically-intermediate series pronounced as /[ʃʲ], [t͡ʃʲ], [ʒʲ], [d͡ʒʲ]/ (sometimes written).[1]
It is named after the of Polish (named after the town of Jabłonków in Cieszyn Silesia). It occurs in a number of other Polish subdialects.[1]
The feature is linked to the process of dispalatalization (reducing of the number of palatalized consonants) similar to the phenomena of Polish: [[mazurzenie]] and in other dialects.[2]
