Isobutylbenzene Explained

Isobutylbenzene is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C10H14.[1] It is used in the industrial manufacture of ibuprofen.

Isobutylbenzene is a colorless flammable liquid that is a respiratory irritant.

Industrial production is through catalytic carbometalation: toluene adds to propene in the presence of a sodium-potassium catalyst on activated carbon.[2]
