Freshwater stingray explained
Freshwater stingray may refer to species of two families in the order Myliobatiformes:
- Dasyatidae, found in the Amazon, Africa, Asia, and Australia
- Potamotrygonidae, found in South America
- Grows up to 7.2 feet across (wing span)
- Grows up to 16.5 feet long (head to tail)
- Weighs up to 660 pounds
- They eat crustaceans
- The females don't lay eggs
- They travel and hunt in groups of up to 10,000. A group of stingrays is called a fever.
- They are the only kind of stingray that lives in fresh water.
