Anethum Explained

Anethum is a flowering plant genus in the family Apiaceae, native to the Middle East and the Sahara in northern Africa.[1]

Taxonomy

The genus name comes from the Latin form of Greek words Greek, Modern (1453-);: ἄνῑσον anison, Greek, Modern (1453-);: ἄνησον anīson, Greek, Modern (1453-);: ἄνηθον anīthon and Greek, Modern (1453-);: ἄνητον anīton, which all meant "dill" and "anise";[2] anise is now placed in a different genus named Pimpinella.
