Abu Amama is a proposed new seaport located 200 km to the north of Port Sudan on the Red Sea. It has an attached enterprise zone.A 200 km road from Port Sudan is included in the project.[1] The project includes an adjoining industrial zone. Abu Amama will be built and operated by AD Ports Group of the United Arab Emirates and Invictus Investment of Dubai.[2]
The agreement to develop the port was signed in 2022. On 3 November 2024, the Sudanese government cancelled the agreement to develop the port, citing Abu Dhabi's support for the Rapid Support Forces in the Sudanese civil war (2023–present).[3]
