Zoramia gilberti is a species of Cardinalfish from the Western Central Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 4.2 cm in length. Z. gilberti is found in sheltered bays and lagoons, where it gathers in large aggregations among branching corals, and frequently mixes with other cardinalfish species.[1] The specific name honors the American ichthyologist and fisheries biologist Charles H. Gilbert (1859-1928) of Stanford University who was a colleague of David Starr Jordan's, who described this species with Alvin Seale in 1905. [2]
