Znamensky District (ru|Зна́менский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 817.1km2. Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Znamenskoye. Population: 5,016 (2010 Census); The population of Znamenskoye accounts for 33.9% of the district's total population.
The main rivers in the district are the Nugr' and the Vytebet, a tributary of the Zhizdra. The district's average elevation above sea level is 216m (709feet), with a high point of 255m (837feet) and a low point of 176m (577feet).
The Orlovskoye Polesye national park is partly located in the district.[3]
People's Artist of the USSR Ivan Pereverzev (1914–1978) was born on the territory of modern district, in the now defunct village of Kuzminki.
