History

A post office called Zim was established in 1899, and remained in operation until 1990.[1] The community derives its name from a logging camp run by a lumberman named Zimmerman who worked in the area.[2]

The nearby Sax–Zim Bog area is home to one of the world's best birdwatching places and the site of the annual Sax–Zim Winter Birding Festival held in February.[3] The bog was named for Zim and the nearby community of Sax.[3]
