The ZiL-158, ZiL-158V / LiAZ-158 is a city bus produced by the Likhachev Plant (1957 - 1960) and Likinsky Bus Plant (1959 - 1970).[1]

ZIL-158 was the main bus model of city bus fleets of the Soviet Union in the 1960s and early 1970s. More than 62,350 were assembled. The assembly was carried out until the end of 1969. The most recent 158s arrived in Moscow in February 1970 to the 10-bus fleet.

The ZIL-158 was a further modernization of the older ZIS-155 bus. It was distinguished by a 770 mm longer body with a nominal passenger capacity increased to 60 people (32 seats), a modified design of the front and rear masks, modified side windows, as well as an engine with a 9% increase in power. The first ZIL-158s had windows in the ventilation hatches in the roof, as well as windows in the corners on the rear slopes of the roof (soon both were abandoned).

In 1961, LiAZ began production of the modernized ZIL-158V bus. It differed from the ZIL-158 in a new body, a single-disc clutch, a ZIL-164A gearbox and a changed final drive ratio (7.63 versus 9.28 on the ZIL-158), as well as a brake valve of a different design.
