Zavarak (Persian: زوارك) is a village in, and the capital of, Alamut-e Pain Rural District,[2] Alamut-e Sharqi District, Qazvin County, Qazvin province, Iran.

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 176 in 57 households.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 126 people in 43 households.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 102 people in 39 households.[5]

In The Valley of the Assassins, Zavarak is mentioned by British traveller and explorer Freya Stark as a place she visits during one of her Persian tours in the 1930s. She describes the immediate region in some detail.[6]
