Zamenis Explained

Zamenis is a genus of Old World non-venomous snakes in the family Colubridae.

Etymology

The generic name Zamenis comes from Greek ζαμενής (lat. vehemens, iracundus)[1] meaning "angry", "irritable", "fierce".
