Yuso is a locality of the municipality of Santillana del Mar, region of the West Coast, Cantabria.[2]
It has pre-Roman origins, specifically Celtic, as attested to by the remains found in the Monte del Huervo, called the Castro de El Cincho, on the estate of the same name, although founded as such at some point between the tenth and eleventh centuries, it belonged to the Collegiate church and cloister of St Juliana, in its current municipality, until about the eighteenth century, when different noble houses disputed it for its strategic geographical location, finally remaining in the power of the Casa de la Vega, based in the current Torrelavega, in 1431. Around the sixteenth century, after the decline of feudalism and the nobility, it returned to the control of Santillana del Mar, as it remains today.
