Yul Chibuike Daniel Edochie popularly known as Yul Edochie (born 7 January 1982) [1] [2] is a Nigerian actor.[3] He is from Anambra State, Nigeria, the son of a veteran Nigerian actor Pete Edochie.
He was raised both in Lagos and Enugu. He is the last of six children. He got married at the age of 22.[4] [5] He attended the University of Port Harcourt, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts.[6]
Edochie was named after Russian actor Yul Brynner.[7]
Edochie was married to May Aligwe and has three sons and a daughter and is now married to Judy Austin with whom he has two sons. [8] On 27 April 2022, the actor revealed that his fellow actor, Judy Austin, is his wife and they have two sons.[9] [10]
Edochie joined Nollywood in 2005 in his first film titled The Exquires alongside Justus Esiri and Enebeli Elebuwa.[11] He got his break in 2007 after featuring alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot in the movie Wind Of Glory.[12]
In 2015, Edochie opened a film academy in Lagos.[13]
In 2017, Edochie ran for Governor of Anambra State,[14] and was the gubernatorial candidate for the Democratic Peoples Congress political party.[15] [16] Willie Obiano, who ran for re-election and won a second term.[17]
