Yelansky District (Russian: Еланский райо́н) is an administrative[1] district (raion), one of the thirty-three in Volgograd Oblast, Russia. As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Yelansky Municipal District.[2] It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2672km2. Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Yelan. Population: 36,212 (2002 Census); The population of Yelan accounts for 44.9% of the district's total population.
