Yared Zerihun (Amharic: ያሬድ ዘሪሁን) is an Ethiopian politician who has been the commissioner general of the Ethiopian Federal Police from April to June 2018, succeeded by Zeynu Ummer. He was the deputy chief of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) until Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed reshuffled his cabinet.
Yared Zerihun was the deputy chief of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) until April 2018.[1]
On 19 April 2018, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed cabinet reshuffled, and Yared has been appointed as the commissioner general of the Ethiopian Federal Police, replacing Assefa Abyou.[2] [3] [4] In June 2018, he was removed to the position due to health issue succeeded by Zeynu Ummer.[5]
On 14 November 2018, Yared was arrested by police amidst investigation of alleged corruption and human rights abuses during the EPRDF regime.[6] [7] He was apprehended in Koket Hotel, Dukem.[8]
