Yanqaq (fa|ينقاق) is a city in the Central District of Galikash County, Golestan province, Iran, serving as the administrative center for Yanqaq Rural District.[2]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, Yanqaq's population was 4,600 in 1,013 households, when it was a village in Yanqaq Rural District of the former Galikash District of Minudasht County.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 4,073 people in 1,085 households,[4] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Galikash County. The rural district was transferred to the new Central District.[5] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 3,919 people in 1,143 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[6]

After the census, Yanqaq was elevated to the status of a city.[7]
