Xos, Inc. (pronounced ék-so-s)[1] is an American manufacturer of battery electric trucks.
The company was founded in 2016 and went public in 2021.[2]
The company manufactures electric commercial vehicles, primarily electric step vans. As of the end of Q1 2024, it has delivered more than 600 vehicles in total.
The company's customers include FedEx Ground operators and the armored transport company Loomis.[3]
Future products announced by the company include a medium-duty box truck/chassis cab and a heavy-duty semi-truck.
The company also provides turnkey charging infrastructure solutions for electric vehicle fleets.
One of the company's produts is the "Xos Hub", which the company advertises as a way to instantly create fast-charging infrastructure where none currently exists. Each hub is a charging station with its own built-in energy storage; it can charge up to 4 electric vehicles at once. It can be stationary or mobile, "conveniently packaged on a standard trailer". The hub plugs into local utility power - it can charge itself from an ordinary utility power connection, then quickly pass the stored energy to a charging vehicle at a much higher rate, of up to 160 kW. The hub is also able to operate off-grid, on battery power alone.[4] [5]
