Xanthophyllum ferrugineum is a tree in the family Polygalaceae. The specific epithet Latin: [[:wikt:ferrugineus|ferrugineum]] is from the Latin meaning 'rust-coloured', referring to the inflorescences.
Xanthophyllum ferrugineum grows up to 25m (82feet) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 60cm (20inches). The smooth bark is grey or greenish. The flowers are yellow or white. The yellowish brown fruits are roundish and measure up to 20NaN0 in diameter.
Xanthophyllum ferrugineum is endemic to Borneo. Its habitat is mixed dipterocarp forests from sea-level to 500m (1,600feet) altitude.
