White Plains is a census-designated place (CDP) in Surry County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,049 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.1sqmi, all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,049 people, 459 households, and 322 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 257.4sp=usNaNsp=us. There were 506 housing units at an average density of 124.2sp=usNaNsp=us. The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.28% White, 0.29% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.95% of the population.
There were 459 households, out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.8% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.77.
