Vodochody is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 800 inhabitants.
The village of Hoštice is an administrative part of Vodochody.
The name is derived from the words voda ('water') and chodit ('walk'). The name referred to "village of people who walk on water", which probably meant "village of fishermen".[2]
Vodochody is located about 10km (10miles) north of Prague. It lies in the Prague Plateau.
The first written mention of Vodochody is from 1000.[2]
There is a small airport in the municipal territory, Vodochody Airport. It serves to the aircraft construction company Aero Vodochody, which is located in neighbouring Odolena Voda.
There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[3]
