Visa policy of Nigeria explained

Visa policy of Nigeria should not be confused with Visa policy of Niger.

Visitors to Nigeria require a visa unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months.

Visa exemption

Citizens of the following countries and territories can visit Nigeria without a visa:

Visa on arrival

class=nowrap style="padding:0 2em 0 0"Nationals of the African Union member states who are not visa-exempt may obtain a visa on arrival in Nigeria if they hold ordinary passports.

Electronic Visa (e-Visa)

Holders of a written e-Visa approval issued by Immigration Authority Headquarters in Abuja can obtain a visa on arrival, provided holding a visa application form and e-Visa application payment receipt and holding an invitation letter from Nigerian company accepting immigration responsibilities.

A simplified eVisa process was announced in July 2024.[3]
