Victorino Dennis Macalinao Socrates is a Filipino politician who is the governor of the province of Palawan since 2022.[1] [2] Prior to this, he served as vice governor of Palawan[3] from 2013 to 2022.[4] He was a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines representing the 2nd district of Palawan from 2010 to 2013.[5] He also served as mayor of Puerto Princesa from 2001 to 2002, when he lost a recall election against former mayor Edward Hagedorn.[6]
Socrates is a lawyer by profession.[7] He is the son of Salvador Socrates,[8] a former governor of Palawan who died in a plane crash while in office in 2000.[9] His sister, Maria Nancy Socrates, is a vice mayor of Puerto Princesa.[10]
