Vermont statistical areas explained

The U.S. currently has eight statistical areas that have been delineated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). On July 21, 2023, the OMB delineated two combined statistical areas, one metropolitan statistical area, and five micropolitan statistical areas in Vermont.[1] As of 2023, the largest of these is the Burlington-South Burlington-Barre, VT CSA, comprising the area around Vermont's largest city, Burlington.

Primary statistical areas

Primary statistical areas (PSAs) include all combined statistical areas and any core-based statistical area that is not a constituent of a combined statistical area. Of the eight statistical areas of Vermont, five are PSAs comprising two combined statistical areas and three micropolitan statistical areas.
