Verkhoshizhemsky District (Russian: Верхошижемский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the thirty-nine in Kirov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 2415km2.[3] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Verkhoshizhemye. Population: 10,878 (2002 Census); The population of Verkhoshizhemye accounts for 45.9% of the district's total population.
