Vendel (in French pronounced as /vɑ̃dɛl/; Breton: Gwennel; Gallo: Vandèu) is a former commune in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany in northwestern France. On 1 January 2019, it was merged into the new commune Rives-du-Couesnon.[2]

Geography

Vendel is located 38km (24miles) northeast of Rennes and 45km (28miles) south of Mont Saint-Michel.

The adjacent communes are La Chapelle-Saint-Aubert, Billé, Saint-Georges-de-Chesné, and Saint-Jean-sur-Couesnon.

Population

Inhabitants of Vendel are called Vendelais in French.
