Bahacheve (pronounced as /uk/), formerly known as Vatutine is a city in Zvenyhorodka Raion, Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Bahacheve urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.[1] It had a population of
Bahacheve gained status as a city in 1952.[2] Until 18 July 2020, Bahacheve was designated as a city of oblast significance and belonged to Vatutine Municipality but not to any raion. As part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Cherkasy Oblast to four, the city was merged into Zvenyhorodka Raion.[3] [4]
The city was founded in 1946.
On 3 April 2024, the in the Verkhovna Rada stated their support for renaming the city to Bahacheve.[5] On 19 September 2024, the Verkhovna Rada voted to rename Vatutine to Bahacheve.[6]
In January 1989, the population of the city was 20, 362 people.[7] In January 2013, the population of the city was 17, 653 people.[8]
