Vaga is a barrio in the municipality of Morovis, Puerto Rico. Vaga has three sectors and its population in 2010 was 471.[2] [3] [4]
Vaga was in Spain's gazetteers[5] until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Vaga barrio was 828.[6]
Vaga is located on the southwestern corner of the municipality of Morovis. It is south of San Lorenzo barrio and west of Pasto barrio. Vaga's western border is with the municipality of Ciales.
Barrios (which are, in contemporary times, roughly comparable to minor civil divisions)[7] in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (sectors in English). The types of sectores may vary, from normally sector to urbanización to reparto to barriada to residencial, among others.[8] [9]
The following sectors are in Vaga barrio:[10]
Spanish; Castilian: Sector Vaga, Sector Vaga 1, and Spanish; Castilian: Sector Vaga 3.
