Urapakkam is a southern suburb of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.[1] It is in Kanchipuram district. This suburb lies in close proximity to Potheri, Guduvancheri, Raj Bhavan, Tambaram, and Chitalapakkam, thus acting as a connecting hub. Urapakkam is a growing residential and commercial hub. It offers a rich cultural heritage showcased by ancient temples.
Urapakkam is served by the Urapakkam railway station on the Chennai Suburban Railway Network, on the Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu section.
Urapakkam enjoys excellent road connectivity. National Highway 45 passes through the locality, linking it to other parts of Tamil Nadu and Chennai. The suburb is served by various bus lines, including the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Service buses and Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses facilitating access to Chennai and other regions.
As of the 2011 Census, Urapakkam, a Census Town in the Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu, had a population of 29,122 individuals.[2]
