USS Galvez explained

USS Galvez (FFG-67) will be the sixth Constellation-class guided-missile frigate of the United States Navy. She is the only ship of the Navy to be named for American Revolutionary war figure Bernardo de Gálvez. Gálvez was governor of Spanish Louisiana and a key supporter of the revolution, as he led Spanish forces against the British Army during the war and enabled American independence.[1] [2] The name was announced in Madrid alongside the American ambassador and members of the Spanish Navy.[3] [4]

The frigate was ordered in 2024 with an estimated cost of $1 billion and was initially estimated to be finished in 2030.
