Tuber canaliculatum explained

Tuber canaliculatum, commonly called Michigan truffle[1] and Appalachian truffle,[2] is a fungus that grows in eastern North America including the Midwest.[2] [3] It is brick red in color.[2] It is foraged and used in Appalachian cuisine.

Dogs have been used to locate the truffles. It has been investigated for commercial cultivation.[4]
