TuS Schwachhausen (officially Turn- und Sportverein Schwachhausen von 1883 e.V.) is a sports club based in Bremen. The first men's football team played in the Bremen League from 2008 to 2023 and took part in the 1974/75 DFB Pokal. The first women's football team played in the Regionalliga Nord in the 2018/19 season and took part in the DFB Pokal in 2018/19 and 2019/20.
The footballers achieved promotion to the Landesliga Bremen, then the highest amateur league in Bremen, for the first time in 1968 under coach Willi Schröder. After years of relegation battles and mediocrity, the team became runners-up in the 1974/75 season behind OT Bremen. In the same season, the club took part in the DFB Cup and lost in the first round to FC 08 Homburg 0:3. For financial reasons, the Bremeners waived their home right and played the game in the Saarland. In the following years, the team was unable to build on this success.[5]
During the 1970s, merger talks with TuS Vahr failed. In 1980, the footballers were relegated from the then Verbandsliga Bremen, the highest Bremen league. Four years later, they succeeded in re-promoting, followed by another relegation to the Landesliga in 1986. In the late 1990s, TuS slipped down to the Kreisliga and then fluctuated between Landesliga and Bezirksliga. In 2008, TuS was promoted to the fifth-tier Bremen-Liga. In spring 2023, the club announced the withdrawal of its team from the Bremen-Liga.[6]
