Trifon Explained
Trifon or Trifón (Russian: Трифон|link=no) is a given name derived from the Greek, Ancient (to 1453);: Τρύφων|Tryphon|one who lives in luxury.[1] An archaic transliteration from Greek is . It is used by Russians and other peoples of East Orthodox denomination. There is also a surname variant of the word.
In Finnic languages, a variant is Undetermined: Triihpo, which appeared as a result of an f → hp change.[2] Another variant of the word is Finnish: Ruippo, a surname which was used in Southern Karelia and Eastern Savo before World War II.[3] Notable people with the name include:
