Treasure Island is an upcoming South Korean revenge drama television series written by Lee Myung-hee, directed by Jin Chang-gyu, and starring Park Hyung-sik, Huh Joon-ho, and Hong Hwa-yeon. It depicts the story of a man who hacks a political slush fund account worth 2 trillion won to survive and a secret power broker who kills the man without knowing that it was hacked and loses 2 trillion won. It is scheduled to premiere on SBS TV in 2025, and will air every Friday and Saturday.
The head of the external cooperation team at the secretary's office of the chairman of Daesan Group. He is Daesan man who lives and dies for the benefit of Daesan, but he is an individual full of meticulous and passionate ambition who has a goal deep inside of him to eat up all of Daesan when the opportunity comes.
A former head of the National Intelligence Service and a professor emeritus at a law school, who controls the kingmaker behind the scenes. He is an individual who feels the climax of joy when he wields money and power however he wants, and thinks he can only survive if he holds and shakes everyone in the world like a marionette puppet.
Dong-ju's assistant. She appears to be the president of an old music store, but is actually the successor to a family of loan sharks who were genius hackers, and helps Dong-ju by crossing the line between legality and illegality.
The son of a wealthy family and a manhwa man. He has been close friends with Dong-ju, who frequents the Daesan family's mansion since his days as a new employee, but later confronts him in order to protect his father.
A prosecutor at the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office and Dong-ju and Jang-seon's nephew. He is an individual with a sullen personality who was close to Dong-ju during their school days, but gradually begins to feel inferiority and rivalry towards him.
Treasure Island is written by Lee Myung-hee and directed by Jin Chang-gyu. It is produced by A2Z Entertainment and Pureumir Factory.
The first script reading was held on June 13, 2024.[2]
On March 28, 2024, P&Studio stated to Joy News 24 that Park Hyung-sik had been confirmed to appear in the series, while Huh Joon-ho is positively considering it.[3] On July 18, Yoon Sang-hyeon was reportedly confirmed his appearance.[4] On September 13, the production team of the series announced that Park and Huh were officially confirmed to appear in the series.[5] On October 2, it was reported that Hong Hwa-yeon had been cast and confirmed for her appearance after a fierce competition with odds of 100 to 1.[6] On October 4, Gong Ji-ho has confirmed her appearance.[7] It was stated by Story J Company on October 10, that Kwon Soo-hyun had been cast to appear.[8]
Principal photography began in the first half of 2024.
The series is scheduled to premiere on SBS TV in 2025, and will air on a Friday–Saturday timeslot.[9]
