Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It was set up in 2009 and is located in NCR Biotech Science Cluster, Faridabad. Envisioned by former secretary of DBT, Dr. M. K. Bhan, the institute was created to enable a faster transition of lab research to market. Prof. Ganesan Karthikeyan is the Executive Director of THSTI.
THSTI has developed capabilities in indigenous vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, in vitro diagnostic kits, biotherapeutics, drug discovery and provides a scientific atmosphere for clinical research propelling healthcare advancements forward.
THSTI fosters a dynamic and collaborative research environment, bringing together diverse scientific minds - physicians, biologists, chemists, mathematicians, and more - to translate innovative concepts into tangible healthcare products. THSTI operates a network of specialized research centres addressing various healthcare areas. These centers include:• Centre for Maternal and Child Health• Centre for Virus research, Therapeutics and Vaccines• Centre for Tuberculosis Research• Centre for Microbial Research• Centre for Immunobiology and Immunotherapy• Computational and Mathematical Biology Centre• Centre for Bio-design and Diagnostics• Centre for Drug Discovery• Clinical Development Services Agency
Augmenting these centres are the state-of-the-art facilities of THSTI viz., Bioassay Laboratory, Biorepository, Biosafety Level -3 Lab, Data Management Centre, Immunology Core laboratory, Multi-OMICS facility, Experimental Animal Facility, Vaccine design and Development facility, and School of Innvoation in Biodesign which serve as huge resources for the research programs of THSTI and also the National Capital Region Biotech Science Cluster and other academic and industrial partners.
Committed to capacity building in the healthcare research sector, THSTI offers educational programs like the Master of Science in Clinical Research and PhD programs.
THSTI has more than 700 scientific publications in reputed scientific journals. It has also filed more than 100 patent applications in India and abroad.
