John Anthony Lee (26 November 1947 – 12 February 2023) was an English footballer who played on the right wing in the Football League for Bradford City and Darlington. He played for Stockton as a youngster,[1] was on the books of Leicester City and Hartlepool United without appearing in the league for either, and also played non-league football for Stockton, South Shields, and Goole Town.[2]
After his playing career ended, he went into management at the non-league level, with clubs including Whitby Town,[3] Billingham Synthonia,[4] Gateshead[5] [6] (two spells), South Bank, Bishop Auckland[7] [8] [9] (two spells), Spennymoor United[8] [10] (three spells), Newcastle Blue Star,[11] Celtic Nation,[12] and Billingham Town.[13]
He also acted as a scout for Darlington when his son Graeme Lee, himself a former league footballer, was their manager.[14]
Tony died on 12 February 2023 due to illness.[15]
