Anthony Lavonne Covington (born December 26, 1967) is a former American football safety in the National Football League (NFL) and Arena Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 1991 NFL draft.[1] He played college football at Virginia.
Covington also played for the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Storm.
From 2012-23, he was the color commentator for University of Virginia football radio broadcasts. As a player, Covington is perhaps best remembered for a pass breakup late in the fourth quarter of a 1990 game against Clemson; the fourth-down incompletion all but secured UVA's first-ever win over the Tigers in 30 tries.
