Tiger Transit is a provider of mass transportation in Auburn, Alabama, with 22 routes serving Auburn University students and staff.
Public transit in Auburn began as early as 1895, when the Opelika & Auburn Electric Railway Co. began operating streetcars.[1] In 2020, the service introduced a live bus map, known as DoubleMap, however, this was replaced in early 2023 with SPOT, allowing for better bus spacing and an improved user experience.[2] In the fall of 2021, 58 new buses were put into operation, with expanded space for passengers, Wifi, and USB charging ports.[3]
Tiger Transit operates 23 routes, with seven on-campus routes, fifteen off-campus routes, and a special shopping shuttle.[4] Routes only operate on weekdays while the university is in session from 7AM to 8PM. There are over 130 stops across Auburn served by diesel or hybrid 35 foot buses.[5] The service is free, but only available to students and staff, except on football, basketball or gymnastics gamedays, when fans attending the events are allowed to use the service.[6]
