Thymesia is an action role-playing video game developed by Taiwanese developer OverBorder Studio and published by Team17 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S alongside a cloud-based version for Nintendo Switch on August 18, 2022. Another cloud-based version for Amazon Luna was released on September 15, 2022. The game borrows mechanics from the Dark Souls series with both critics and the developers referring to the game as a Soulslike.

Premise

The Kingdom of Hermes has fallen, and alchemy is now being widely used across the kingdom. Attempts to halt the use of magic have failed, and plague-infected monsters are prowling the streets; the kingdom is in chaos.[2]

Corvus is the kingdom's only hope.

Gameplay

Players assume the role of Corvus, covered in a feather cape and plague mask, on a quest to save the kingdom from a plague. Players move around to various locations battling mutant monsters and infected inhabitants.

Reception

Thymesia received mixed reviews on Metacritic.[3] [4] [5] IGN wrote, "Thymesias aggressive combat can be enjoyable, but it's an adventure that's easily forgettable otherwise."[6] Although they felt some parts "don't gel", GameSpot said that it is overall "a small, smart, and rewarding Souls-like experience".[7]
