The film is based on the 2003 novel Férfiidők lányregénye [2] (2021 English edition Those Who Remained) [3] by Zsuzsa Várkonyi.[4] It was selected as the Hungarian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards,[5] making the December shortlist.[6]
