Thierry Schmitter Explained

Thierry Schmitter (born 6 May 1969 in France) is a Dutch sailor[1] [2] (now a kiteboarder) who was honored as the Dutch Disabled Sportsman / woman of the Year in 2011. Schmitter achieved a bronze medal in the Mixed 2.4 Metre sailing category at the 2004 Summer Paralympics and secured fifth place in the same category at the 2008 Summer Paralympics. He also won a bronze medal at the 2012 Paralympics in London.[3] In addition to his sporting career, Schmitter works as an examiner at the European Patent Office in The Hague, specializing in the field of Marine Technology.[4]
