The Wandering Inn is a LitRPG webnovel, Ebook, and audiobook series written by an unknown author under the pen name "pirateaba".[2] The series was first published in July 2016 and as of July 2024 is on its tenth volume, with over 13 million words written.[3] [4] Throughout its publication, the series has been positively received by critics and consumers.
The story first follows Erin Solstice, a girl from Earth who finds herself in a fantasy world ruled by a LitRPG-like system with classes and levels.[5] [6] The series expands to follow a large cast of characters and a variety of themes.
The Wandering Inn is being published as an online serial on a WordPress blog with two chapters released every week. It began online publishing in July 2016[7] and currently has over 13 million words.[8] [9]
As of January 2024, The Wandering Inn has 11 ebooks, which have been published on Amazon.[10] Audiobooks based on these ebooks, narrated by Andrea Parsneau and published by Podium Audio, have been released since September 10, 2019. As of January 2024, 11 audiobooks have been released.[11]
The Wandering Inn won the Stabby Award for Best Serialized Fiction in 2020 by Reddit's r/Fantasy.[12] Eun Yoon from Fugue included the serial in her list of best webnovels, calling it a "captivating entry to the genre of web serials" and a "richly rewarding experience".[13]
Preston Simmons from Reader's Grotto ranked the web serial at #2 in his list of "The Top 10 Best LitRPG Books in 2022", calling it "one of the best LitRPG books of all time". Additionally, he stated, "This web serial is many things at once, all done exceptionally well."[14]
