The Shrinking of Treehorn is an upcoming American animated musical film directed by Ron Howard, written by Rob Lieber, and produced by Paramount Pictures, Paramount Animation, Animal Logic and Imagine Entertainment.[1] The film was based on the children's book of the same name by Florence Parry Heide.[2]
The film is set to be the first animated feature directed by Howard.
On June 20, 2019, it was announced that Ron Howard would direct the first animated film from Imagine Entertainment. The animation would be done by Animal Logic and the film was originally going to be distributed by Paramount Pictures.[3]
In July 2022, Animal Logic was acquired by Netflix.[4] Animal Logic announced it would "remain operating under the Animal Logic brand and fulfill the production of existing and ongoing commitments while continuing to collaborate and work with longstanding studio partners".
In January 2024, Netflix merged Animal Logic into Netflix Animation.[5]
The film was originally scheduled to be released in the United States on November 10, 2023, by Paramount Pictures.[6] However, on May 16, 2022, it was announced that the film had been acquired by Netflix, with a new release date set.
