The Muppet Show is the first soundtrack album released from the TV show of the same name. It reached number one in the UK Albums Chart in the week ending 25 June 1977. In 1979, the album won The Grammy Award for Best Album for Children.[1]

Overview

The album includes selected songs from Season 1 of the Muppet Show as well as comedy sketches and various unlisted short skits, including interjections by Muppet characters Statler and Waldorf.

Reception

Allmusic found the album "a lost treasure with all those Jim Henson characters brimming with life. Even without the visuals, this LP has all the trappings of their successful variety show of the late '70s, when the Muppets were at the height of their popularity."[2]
