Plot
Fire in the Tlemcen region of Algeria, leads to social unrest between natives and colonials.The main character, Omar, is a witness to the conflict.[2] [3] [4]
Analysis
The novel examines the mixing of indigenous culture translated into the colonial French language.[5]
