The Basin (Rottnest Island) Explained

The Basin is a popular swimming location on Rottnest Island, Western Australia. It is located at -31.9892°N 115.5358°W,[1] in the northwest of the island, between Pinky Beach and Longreach Bay.

According to the website of Tourism Western Australia, it has been awarded "Australia's Top Beach".[2] John T. McMahon once wrote of it:
