Thambal - The Legacy of Celestial Flower (English: Lotus) is a 2024 Manipuri film written by Biseshwar Philem and directed by Datamo Sharma.[1] [2] Produced by Ashalata Oinam under the banner of Kangleiwood Cinema, it stars Pinky Saikhom, Avi Khundrakpam, Lamnganbi Laishram and Suraj Ngashepam in the lead roles.[3] The film was certified by CBFC in 2023.[4] It was slated to be released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound on 17 November 2024, but was postponed indefinitely due to the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur.
The film revolves around a lone woman survivor who inhabit in the Loktak Lake. She starts to make yarn from lotus stalks and becomes an entrepreneur.
The film has two songs, which are titled Chatliba Lambi and Chellu Maang Thaana Mioiba. They are sung by Amarjit Lourembam, Pushparani Huidrom and Nganthoibi Ningthoujam and additional vocal was done by Johnson Aboi Yengkhom. Amarjit Lourembam composed the soundtrack, mixing and mastering was done by Wilson Ningthemcha and AK Khuman wrote the lyrics.[5]
